Communities share views on new Ten Year Plan for the NHS
Diverse communities from across the region, including Roma, Gypsy and Traveller people, boaters, refugees and asylum seekers, have been invited to share their views about how health and care services could be improved in the future.
Their views have been gathered as part of a nationwide exercise to collect thoughts and opinions on the soon to be published Ten Year Plan for the NHS.
The plan, which is expected in May, will set out steps to create a modern health service that is designed to meet the changing needs of the country’s population.
It will focus on the three shifts that the government, the health service and experts all agree need to happen, which are moving care from hospitals to communities, making better use of technology and focussing more on prevention.
Engagement events have already taken place with members of patient participation groups in Midsomer Norton and Radstock, as well as with asylum seekers and refugees who have been supported at the Harbour Project in Swindon.
Other events involving the Muslim community in Bath have also happened in recent weeks.
Members of the Bath Ethnic Minority Senior Citizens Association will also soon be approached for their thoughts on the new plan.
