First prize for Salisbury anaesthetist

An anaesthetist working at Salisbury District Hospital has won a national award for her work to improve patient safety.

Dr Fiona Linton, an ST5 anaesthetist, was awarded the Stage 2 Oral Presentation Prize by the Association of Anaesthetists during a lavish award ceremony in London last month.

She said: “I’m very grateful to receive the prize, which reflects a team of colleagues working together to improve patient safety. Many thanks to all involved.”

Her achievement was praised by Dr Tim Meek, President of the Association of Anaesthetists.

He said: “Winning an association prize is a great achievement and something Fiona should be proud of. I’d like to offer her my congratulations on coming first in a highly competitive field.”

The Association of Anaesthetists recently redesigned its awards to celebrate contributions across the speciality, from patient care and research to education, leadership, and wellbeing.

The awards aim to recognise individuals who help to deliver outstanding patient care at every level.
