VCSE organisations help address cost of living crisis

Voluntary, community and social enterprise groups in BSW are looking at how they can support local people during the current cost of living crisis.

In Bath and North East Somerset the Community Wellbeing Hub, which did so much to help local people during the Covid lockdowns of 2020 and 2021, is providing support to those worried about the rising cost of living

The Hub is led by HCRG Care Group and is a collaboration between Bath and North East Somerset Council, HCRG Care Group, and many third sector organisation representatives.

It is offering support on a range of issues to help with the cost of living including bills, energy costs, food, housing, jobs and training, mental health and wellbeing.

“The Community Wellbeing Hub was set up in March 2020 as a response to the Covid-19 pandemic, but partners continue to collaborate by adapting to the needs of residents,” says Becky Brooks, Director at 3SG.

“As the cost of living crisis starts to become more apparent, we fully expect an increase in support needed by families who may have felt they were coping before, but are suddenly finding things tough. There is no shame in asking for help, no matter what your circumstance – and the Hub is perfectly placed to provide a whole range of support, so please do give them a call.”

At Age UK Bath and North East Somerset, CEO Simon Allen said working together allowed VCSE groups to help more people.

“Age UK BaNES are proud members of the Community Wellbeing Hub. Working together with other voluntary organisations, like Citizens Advice and Bath Mind, the Council and HCRG Care Group we can reach more people affected by the Cost of Living Crisis. If you are struggling, please get in touch.”
