Dads and Partners

This information page has been designed for dads, partners and non-birthing parents. We also hope the information provided will be helpful for anyone who is supporting someone through pregnancy and birth. We describe how pregnancy and birth may affect you and suggest ways that you can be involved. We have collated a range of information to help Dads and Partners navigating a pregnancy journey.

We use the word ‘partner’ to include:

  • the partner(s), spouse or civil partner (including same-sex partners) of the mother or birthing parent
  • the biological father of the child
  • the co-parent(s)
  • the secondary adoptive parent having a child through surrogacy.

Our language is under constant review as we understand more about our audience’s needs. If you have any suggestions regarding inclusive language/information provided on this page, please contact our Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership. We are always open to new suggestions.
