Maternity App

The App is not an instant messaging system. Information entered there is for discussion at you next midwife appointment. If you have medical concerns please contact your midwife team directly

The App cannot be shared with partners or family members due to data governance issues. There are alternatives including dadpad and you can show your partner what you have written from your phone.

The app could use up to 5-6MB of data (costing about 1/2p), but most likely less. Adding your information to the app uses up very little data.

The App is currently only available on smartphones, you will be able to get a paper version of My Maternity Choices from your maternity service. It may be possible to obtain support for digital access from local charities or council schemes to increase digital access. Your midwife may be able to help you with advice.

Free Wifi is available within public libraries, hospitals and many other places.

The information on your Maternity Hub app is protected and cannot be accessed without your NHS login details. Please see the details from the NHS App on how to change your details if you lose your phone.

Social care professionals cannot automatically see the information from your Maternity App. The law requires us to share your information with other agencies where we believe or suspect that you or your child is suffering or likely to suffer significant harm.

We recommend that you change your NHS login, please see the details from the NHS App on how to change this.

We recommend that you try the App first if possible as it will give you access to far more information than you will have in your paper records, but if you wish to use paper please ask your midwife for a paper copy of the Maternity Hub.

Please ensure that your phone is charged before you attend your next appointment, your midwife will be able to access your information within the hospital/community hub if you are unable to use your phone.

Please follow the recommended guidance for safe viewing of private information in a public space. Currently access is only via a smart phone, but we are looking to make the App available over a desktop/tablet/laptop soon.
