Oliver McGowan Tier 1 training for non-clinical and/or non-patient facing healthcare now live

The BSW Academy initiative to roll out the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Autism and Learning Disability is now well underway, with over 3,675 staff across BSW trained since June 2023.

The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is named after Oliver McGowan, whose death highlighted the need for health and social care staff to have better skills, knowledge and understanding of the needs of autistic people and those with a learning disability.

Tier 1 training for non-clinical and/or non-patient facing healthcare colleagues is now live.

The content of the training will develop skills in the delivery of services to service users with learning disabilities and autism. It is delivered as a webinar via Microsoft Teams for an hour by an expert trainer and co-trainers with lived experience of autism and a learning disability.
