The Digital Landline Switchover and Housing and Care Homes

The Digital Landline Switchover happening now across the UK will see the old analog phone network (the PSTN) switched off and all landline phone services offered digitally with most calls soon to be made over broadband.

The impact of this move to digital landlines will extend to the many other devices that use the landline for data. In supported and older people’s housing and care homes, the devices needing to be checked for compatibility and potentially replaced include lifeline alarms, assistive technology, intruder alarms, Telecare Devices and lift alarms. These devices make sure tenants are safe and supported. It is a priority for industry and government that vulnerable tenants are not adversely affected by the switchover.

A webinar hosted by techUK is scheduled for Wednesday 24 April 14.00 – 15.00 aimed at helping supported and older people’s housing and care home providers prepare for the switchover and hear what support is available for them to help them make the move.

The webinar will present an opportunity to hear about the rationale behind the Digital Landline Switchover, from Communications Providers on how they will work with supported housing and care home providers to facilitate the move and from a supported housing provider on how they are preparing for the switchover.

Registration is free and open to all. More information here: The Digital Landline Switchover and Housing and Care Homes
