Hospitals’ approach to improvement shortlisted for award

The region’s three acute hospitals have been recognised for their innovative approach to improvement by the HSJ Partnership Awards.

The Royal United Hospital in Bath, the Great Western Hospital in Swindon and Salisbury District Hospital, all of which are now working together under a new group model arrangement, have been shortlisted in the category of Best Contribution to Improving the Efficiency of NHS Services.

Together, the three trusts use the Improving Together programme to explore opportunities for tackling inefficiencies, working smarter and sharing solutions.

The programme is intended to drive forward positive changes that can improve the working lives of staff and the experience of patients.

Being recognised shows the importance the programme has in giving the NHS a strong and consistent framework for how it approaches problems, new ideas overall improvement.

This is the second time Improving Together has been celebrated for its outstanding contribution to improving healthcare, with the staff-led approach previously recognised at the HSJ Patient Safety Awards.

The winners of the HSJ Partnership Awards will be announced on Thursday 20 March 2025.
