Carbon reduction grants awarded to South West local authorities

Local authorities across the South West have been successful in securing £1 million in funding from The Local Net Zero Fund.

Bids were made to the South West Net Zero Hub for a share of the fund, which aims to increase the number, scale and quality of net zero projects in the region.

In total, South West councils were awarded grants for 14 projects. Seven of the projects were linked to local capacity, while four were for project development and another three for strategic development.

These projects illustrate the innovative and impactful work which is going on across the wider public sector in the South West.

The South West Net Zero Hub, which managed these awards, is a key player in the region’s wider efforts to reduce carbon emissions.

As well as this, the body also provides free strategic and technical support to the public sector to help develop, finance and deliver net zero energy projects.
