Dorothy House listening to locals about end of life care

Dorothy House hospice is working with community group Community First together the views of local people about what they feel is important in terms  of life-limiting illness. This might include support to both live well and die well and may also include support with associated loss and bereavement.

The hospice is gathering the view of people in the Chew Valley area of Bath and North east Somerset  to improve its understanding of the community’s aspirations for end of life care.

Community First is an early adopter of Community Organising techniques. They adopt this approach in an open and effective way to meet and talk to local people on matters that are important to them. It is the first step in seeking to understand what can be achieved by building on the strengths that already exist in communities.

Community Organisers will visit Chew Valley in February and hope to talk to local people and find out what they have to say.
