RUH ranked in top ten for kindness and compassion

Staff at the Royal United Hospital in Bath have been recognised as being among the kindest and most compassionate healthcare workers in the country.

A recent survey by healthcare regulator the Care Quality Commission has ranked the trust which manages the Bath hospital as ninth in the country for overall patient experience.

The results were based on the experiences of patients who stayed at least one night in hospital as an inpatient in November 2023.

Feedback for the RUH showed that patients felt they were treated with respect and dignity, and that staff took on board their individual needs.

Cara Charles-Barks, Chief Executive, Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust, said: “These are really positive results and closely reflect our goal of ensuring the people we care for feel safe, understood and always welcome.

“We are not complacent, though, and are always looking at what we can be doing to further improve, and will focus on the areas of the report where we can do better.”

The report also highlighted that RUH patients felt included in discussions with staff about their care and were able to help enough help to wash and keep clean.
