Winter vaccinations – it’s not too late to get protected

The viruses that cause flu can change each year and immunity against COVID-19 reduces over time.

Ahead of winter, over 15 million people have had their life-saving COVID-19 booster and more than 17 million have had their flu vaccine. This means more than half of those eligible for each vaccine have protected themselves and those around them.

Everyone over 50, and those at greater risk – for example because of an underlying health condition, pregnancy, or they are a frontline health and care professional – are being offered a further dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

The flu vaccination is free-of-charge to people who are 50 and over (including those who will be 50 by 31 March 2023); have certain health conditions; are pregnant; are in long-stay residential care; and other at-risk groups.

With thousands of GP practices, local pharmacies and other NHS sites across Bath and North East Somerset, Swindon and Wiltshire offering both vaccines, it has never been easier to get protected.
