Improving Together across the BSW Acute Hospitals Alliance

Staff from hospitals in Swindon, Salisbury and Bath have been featured in a short video about how they are using Improving Together to solve problems, explore ideas and make improvements to the working lives of staff and the experience of patients.

Improving Together is the shared approach to improvement used across our BSW Acute Hospital Alliance.

It’s a unique way of working which brings all staff in any area together – doctors, nursing staff, therapists, receptionists, housekeepers and others – helping with teamwork, communication and morale.

Multidisciplinary teams in all three trusts are using the approach in their work to collectively improve patient outcomes, efficiency and resilience.

Recent examples of collaboration include the introduction of a single procurement function across the three trusts leading to a more standardised approach, clinical teams working together to tackle waiting lists and work to build a new shared electronic patient record system.

Dedicated teams of improvement experts in each trust support staff to introduce the Improving Together routines until they become part of everyday working lives.
