Teams from across BSW recognised in clinical research awards

The hard work of colleagues from organisations across BSW working in research was recognised recently at the Clinical Research Network West of England award ceremony.

Donna Noonan, Head of Service for Research and Innovation at GWH in Swindon, won the continuous improvement category which recognised her commitment and dedication in supporting the GWH research team, to continuously develop and improve – both for the benefit of the service and in their own personal growth.

Laura McCafferty, Clinical Research Practitioner, also based at GWH won the Rising Star Award for her enthusiasm and drive to implement great ideas which regularly become best practice. Laura has also become one of the first people in the region to work her way up to registration as a research practitioner from entry level in the NHS.

Also picking up awards were staff from GWH and the Heart of Bath Primary Care Network for their role in the HARMONIE study, in the collaboration in research category. The HARMONIE study is looking at new medicine which protects against the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) virus.

RSV is a common respiratory virus that usually causes mild, cold-like symptoms. Most people recover in a week or two, but RSV can be serious if caught by infants and older adults. More information on RSV for parents is available on the BSW Together website here: Children’s Health: RSV FAQs
